New coach announcement

The BFNC is thrilled to announce the appointment of James Rowan and Glen Darroch as senior football co-coaches for the 2021 season. 

James and Glen are local, highly respected and well-placed to take on this important role in an unprecedented and dynamic football environment. 

At 26, James will bring his vast football experience in the CDFNL and GFL, complemented by countless local connections to the club where his football journey began.  

Glen’s football CV is vast, having played for University Blacks in Melbourne, with Hamilton Imperials in the Western Border league, playing for and coaching his native Dunkeld, before arriving in Birregurra and playing alongside James in the 2016-17 flags.

In a caretaker season, Glen coached Birre to a narrow grand final loss in 2018.We would like to thank Ricky O’Toole for his contribution to the club since taking on the senior coaching role in 2019. 

Rick has a skill set, qualities and experience that will make him a sought-after coach into the future and, no doubt, an asset-in-waiting to clubs.
